Alastair Cook

... was, among his many other achievements, the youngest player (from any country) to score 7,000, 8,000, 9,000, 10,000 and 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He was the 12th man to score 10,000 runs, and the first Englishman.

He scored his 10,000th run in his 128th Test - against Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street, on 30 May 2016. He was 31 years, 5 months and 20 days old - five and a half months younger than Sachin Tendulkar had been when he reached the same milestone.

'Cooky' might have done it a few days earlier; needing just 20 runs at the start of the match, he was out for 15 in England's first innings. This mattered not to the match score, as England amassed 498 for 9 declared, thanks to 155 from Moeen Ali, 83 from Alex Hales, and 80 from Joe Root. They won the match by nine wickets; Cook ended up on 47 not out in the second innings.
